And if you haven't checked the rules, the top 2 non-playoff teams get the 1st and 2nd picks of the draft (this happens in the 1st round only).
Also, in the 1st round only, the other non-playoff teams go in a weighted lottery for picks 3-8 of the 1st round.
So while getting assets in trades is always welcome, blowing up your team early or completely is not always best....
